Clean up underway after flooding closes roads, businesses in Kalamazoo County

Clean up is underway in Kalamazoo County after flooding closes several roads and businesses.

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Clean up is already underway for so many in Kalamazoo County because of flooding.

KDPS tells Newschannel 3 they've gotten dozens of stranded motorists and abandoned vehicles in the areas of Crosstown Parkway and Portage Street.

Police is advising drivers to plan some extra time because even though some roads may reopen throughout the morning, cars could still be disabled in the middle of those roads.

Schools and businesses are also being impacted by the rain.

In Battle Creek, Lamora Park Elementary is closed Monday for both students and staff because of flooding and a lightning strike that damaged the building.

In Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Valley Community College's Culinary Allied Health Building and the Food Innovation Center are closed.

Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse is also closed Monday.
