CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Calhoun County Sheriff’s deputies recovered tens of thousands of dollars worth of stolen property.

Newschannel 3 was in Convis Township Wednesday as investigators pulled item after item from a home.

This all started around 10:30 Wednesday morning when a deputy assigned to the Convis Township area stopped to investigate an off-road vehicle riding up and down the road. She soon realized it was stolen.

Investigators say there are more than a dozen big ticket items scattered in and around the property on 13 Mile Road in Calhoun County’s Convis Township, all of them stolen.

“Lawn mowers, air compressors, several items that have been taken from multiple larcenies and burglaries in the northern Convis Township area,” said Det. Sgt. Steve Hinkley, Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

There is also an off-road vehicle, a trailer, furniture, the list goes on and on.

“Probably tens of thousands of dollars of stolen items that are inside the garage and around the house,” said Det. Hinkley.

Det. Hinkley says there have been numerous thefts over the last three weeks.

Denise Wilson was one of those who had things stolen, she got a call from deputies that her items had been located.

“Couch, love seat, chair, recliner, tables, towels, seats, blankets, beds, bed frames,” said Wilson, “all that was in this house when I got here.”

Wilson says it had all been stolen from her storage barn. She says she had stopped by to pick something up to find the back doors had been pried open and her chains and locks had been cut.

Wilson says having it all back means the world to her, because it’s all she has, but it doesn’t lessen her anger.

“I just wanted to come out and beat the crap out of them,” said Wilson. “I’m just, you know, why do you have to steal? If you can’t work for it, then don’t get it. You know, don’t take somebody else’s that they’ve worked all their life.”

Investigators tell Newschannel 3 they know who the stolen property belongs to.

While at the scene Newschannel 3 saw a husband and wife in handcuffs in two separate patrol cars, no word yet if the couple has been arrested.
