Deputies identify 2 men killed in crash near Paw Paw
PAW PAW, Mich. —
The Van Buren County Sheriff Office has identified the two men killed in a crash on Wednesday.
Deputies said Earl Tappenden, 87, of Coldwater, and Abe Schwartz, 41, of Quincy, were killed after a collision that happened at 11:22 a.m. at the intersection of Michigan 40 and 46th Avenue.
Tappenden was driving south on M-40 when a 30-year-old Paw Paw woman ran a stop sign and hit the vehicle, which caused it to smash into a utility pole and catch fire.
The 30-year-old and her 3-year-old son were taken to Bronson and treated for injuries.
Deputies are still investigating the crash, but don’t believe drugs or alcohol were involved.
