Crews respond to chemical spill at KVCC
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Crews are on the scene at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, in response to what we're told is a small chemical spill.
The room and hallway where the spill occurred have been evacuated as the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Department and Texas Township Fire officials are on-scene.
An official tells Newschannel 3 that a lab manager came in Monday morning and noticed a chemical had spilled in the storage area. They didn't know if it had mixed with anything else, and didn't know what chemical it was, so they followed safety protocol and called the fire department.
A HAZMAT team then went in to clean up the area. We're told that everything should be cleared soon.
All classes in the labs for Monday morning have been canceled.
When we have any more information on he incident, we will pass that information along to you.
