Nearly 4,000 customers will have their electric service temporarily interrupted late Saturday night for an equipment upgrade in Kalamazoo County.

After midnight tonight, Consumers Energy said they will interrupt electric service in Texas and Oshtemo Townships for approximately two hours to upgrade electric substation equipment.

The outage has been planned for several weeks, according to Consumers Energy spokesman Dennis McKee.

McKee said the interruption of service will affect nearly 4,000 customers in Texas and Oshtemo Townships from KL Avenue to the north, 11th Street to the east, Van Kal Road to the west and Eagle Lake to the south.

The outage will help Consumers Energy meet growing demand in the area and maintain reliability.
