City of Kalamazoo encourages constant tap flow to avoid frozen pipes
KALAMAZOO, Mich. —
The City of Kalamazoo has issued an advisory, encouraging residents to keep a stream of water running in their homes to avoid frozen pipes.
Although this method can prevent expensive costs of replacing or repairing damages to your home, it can raise the cost of utilities. Kalamazoo has taken that into consideration and notifying residents that their water bills between Jan. 1 and April 1 will be based on last year's usage during the same period -- but only if the usage was lower. Bills between Jan. 22 and July 16 could be reduced, and your billing statement will display actual usage and the amount billed if last year's was less.
If you have questions regarding your water bill, call the City of Kalamazoo at (269) 337-8149.
