Child knocked off bike but not hurt following incident at mobile home park

GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Two men are in custody and a woman is facing possible charges following a disturbance at a home in Geneva Township Wednesday, August 13th.

Van Buren County Sheriff Dale R. Gribler reports that Deputies were sent to the area of 07120 68th Street, Meadow Brook Mobile Home Park around 2pm for a report of two unwanted subjects creating a disturbance.

The investigation revealed that Bangor resident Shawn White, 27, went to the home to find someone, but they weren't there. Witness say White persisted but eventually walked away from the house, breaking a window with his first as he left.

Deputies say the suspect got into the front passenger seat of a vehicle and the 21-year-old female driver put the car in reverse and "gunned it" according to witnesses.

Approximately 85 feet behind the vehicle was a 6 year old boy riding his bicycle with his 8 year old friend.

The suspect vehicle struck the 6 year old knocking him off his bike onto the ground, but amazingly he was not injured.

Deputies were able to locate the suspect vehicle parked at a residence in the 40000 block of 48th Street, Arlington Township.

Deputies noted the 21-year-old female cleaning blood out of her car and were able to determine Shawn and Derrick White, 26, were inside the home at this location.

Shawn White was treated at Bronson/Lakeview Hospital for and injury to his hand, then lodged in the Van Buren County Jail along with Derrick on their outstanding warrants.

Additional charges being sought with the Van Buren County Prosecutors Office, against Shawn White and the 21-year-old female for their roles in his incident.
