Calhoun Co. officials meeting with M-DOT Wednesday

CALHOUN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Officials from the Michigan Department of Transportation will be in Calhoun County Wednesday night.

There will be an open house from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. to discuss the permanent closure of the I-94 business loop from Hill Brady Road to Dickman Road.

M-DOT will close Skyline between Hill Brady and Dickman Roads by fall of next year, and will route the business loop through Columbia Avenue, to Helmer Road.

Battle Creek officials support the closure, saying it will create a joint base for the U.S. Army, Air National Guard, and Navy, that could boost Fort Custer Training Center's chances of being selected as a ballistic missile defense site.
