Bridge to Bridge for Kids ride begins Wed.

ALLEGAN, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Wednesday, cyclists from across West Michigan will bike for a reason.

The Bridge to Bridge for Kids starts at 8:00.

Participants will start at the Iron Bridge in Allegan and bike 350 miles to the Mackinac Bridge.

It's all to raise money for children who have suffered physical or sexual abuse.

All proceeds will go to support Safe Harbor Children's Advocacy Center.

"Last year they raised almost $4000 and that provides at least 3 to 4 children all the services they need. So that includes the forensic interview, the safe place for them to talk, the therapy they will need and the medical exam they will need as well as an advocate," said Executive Director of Safe Harbor, Lori Antkoviak.

Antkoviak says nationally, one in four girls and one in six boys will be victims of sexual abuse by age 18.

Wednesday's ride is expected to last four days.
