Brian Zanetti officially charged in Battle Creek shooting death
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man accused of shooting and killing a Battle Creek business owner was officially charged in court Friday.
Brian Zanetti was arraigned Friday on three charges relating to the shooting death of Frank Zanetti last week.
Police said Frank Zanetti, the owner of Battle Creek Tile & Mosaic, was shot in the head while working inside the shop around 10:30 a.m. last Friday, May 6. Police say the suspect headed directly to Frank, pulled out a handgun and shot him once in the head at point-blank range.
Brian Zanetti is reportedly a relative of Frank, and was arrested a day later in Illinois, on unrelated charges. Police declared Brian a suspect shortly thereafter, and he was extradited to Michigan.
Brian was arraigned Friday on charges of first-degree murder, felony firearm, and carrying a concealed weapon.
