Branch County Deputy Roy Schutts was on his way back from a prisoner transport at Jackson Prison when a loose load from a semi-truck came barreling through his windshield Monday morning, according to a press release from Branch County Sheriff's Office.

Schutts was headed westbound on Interstate 94 when a semi-truck traveling in front of his patrol car lost some of its load. The debris, which was steel, fell from the truck and bounced off Schutts' hood and through the windshield. The chunk of steel was inches from Schutts; he was not injured.
