Barry Township Board meeting over police chief
BARRY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Amid ongoing controversy in the community, Thursday night the Barry Township Board is expected to meet to review the police chief's job.
This meeting was supposed to be Tuesday night, but was pushed back to Thursday night at 6:00 to comply with open meeting laws.
Board members will meet at Delton Kellog High School to discuss Chief Victor Pierce's position.
During a town hall meeting Monday night a group claimed to have a petition with more than 1,000 signatures asking for his resignation.
The entire police force is being criticized for its size and what some say are abusive tactics.
The board has already suspended all 34 reserve officers.
A state investigation found no criminal wrong-doing of any officers.
