BCPD arrest 5 in connection stolen cars from a dealership

PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (Newschannel 3) - Police are searching for answers after a police cruiser and a tow truck are crashed into in Calhoun County.

Officials tell us it all started with a crash just before 2 a.m. Sunday when a police cruiser was hit broadside by another vehicle near North Avenue and Coolidge Avenue in Pennfield Township.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital, but they are expected to be okay. Authorities believe speed and alcohol played a role in the wreck.

Then just after 3 a.m., A tow truck that was picking up one of the cars from the original accident was crashed into in the same area.

Authorities tell us the driver of that car hopped out and ran away from the scene.

A tracking dog was called in, but the suspect couldn't be found.
