AT&T volunteers stuff backpacks for students at Portage Central Elementary
PORTAGE, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) —
AT&T Michigan Pioneers will present 50 backpacks filled with school supplies to school administrators from Portage Central Elementary School.
The presentation will take place during the Central Elementary back-to-school open house. Teachers and educators will distribute the backpacks to families in need within the district.
The packs will include folders, paper, pencils and other essential school supplies. AT&T Pioneers plan to distribute more than 2,600 backpacks across Michigan this fall.
“AT&T Michigan Pioneers are active company employees and retirees who volunteer their personal time to enhance the communities where they work and live,” said Jim Murray, president of AT&T Michigan. “Each year, they lead the ‘Tools for Learning’ campaign, raising money and buying supplies to support thousands of students heading back to school.”
The presentation will take place Thursday at 6 p.m. Among those in attendance at Portage Central Elementary School will be State Rep. Brandt Iden, Ruth Gaudard, AT&T Regional Director of External Affairs, AT&T Pioneers and school staff members.
