Armed robbery in Battle Creek sends woman to hospital, suspect still at large
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. —
A 67-year-old female suffered a non-life threatening stab wound in an armed robbery that occurred in the parking lot of Lakeview Square Mall's Barnes & Noble on Friday morning at 9:29 a.m., according to a press release from Battle Creek Police Department.
Police say the suspect, who is described as a white male, about 6-foot-2 with a medium build, approached the victim, demanding her purse and threatening her with a knife. The victim struggled, trying to keep possession of her purse. That's when the suspect stabbed the victim in the abdomen and got into his Forest Green, older model Toyota Camry and sped off eastbound on Beckley Road.
The victim was transported to the hospital; again, the wound was non-life threatening.
The suspect was wearing a black hoodie, black hat and a green jacket and believed to be in his late-20s.
The incident is still under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to call Battle Creek Police or Silent Observer.
