Accused killer could take stand in his defense
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - An accused killer could take the stand Thursday in his murder trial.
47-year-old Jackie McConnell is charged with second degree murder in the February death of his girlfriend 42-year-old Donna Frost.
During their initial search for Frost, who was reported missing, police tracked McConnell down in North Carolina.
Video of a police interview played in court Wednesday showed detectives pleading with McConnell to give Frost's family closure. And 2 1/2 hours in, he did.
Detective: "Look at me, we need to find her right now - where is she?"
McConnell: "At Rusty's farm in a hole. I hit her too hard with my fist. She didn't deserve it."
Police say McConnell taped an apology to Frost's family when he was brought back to Michigan.
