Newest poll shows Clinton pulling ahead of Trump in Mich.
MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A new poll shows Hillary Clinton is up over Donald trump here in Michigan.
This comes as Trump prepares for his fifth visit to our state since receiving the republican nomination.
Trump made a visit to Grand Rapids Friday for a private fundraiser. He will be in Novi later for an event.
The Detroit News-WDIV-TV poll released last Thursday night Hillary Clinton leading Trump by seven points in both a head-to-head match-up.
As well as a four-way contest that includes Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson and Green Party nominee Jill Stein.
The latter results shown Clinton leading the field with 42 percent support to Trump's 35 percent, while Johnson and Stein lag behind with 9 and 3 percent support.
Nine percent of participants polled remained undecided.
These new numbers come as yet another controversy surrounds Trump.
"The Clintons have a sordid past. We will be the bright, clean future,” said Trump.
At a rally in New Hampshire Thursday, Trump brought up Bill Clinton’s infidelities and his impeachment for lying about an affair.
The effort is drawing attention to the thrice-married Trump's own unflattering history with women.
Critics say it could backfire, elevating Clinton further in the eyes of female voters and motivating her base.
Clinton chose not to comment, instead visiting states where early voting starts Friday and hitting Trump hard on his tax issues.
"It's probably true that he hasn't paid a penny in federal taxes to actually support our military or our vets or our schools or our roads or our education systems,” said Clinton.
Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, will be in Traverse City Friday to campaign for her.
Donald Trump will be in Novi for an event.
