Studies: Heart failure to become a bigger problem in future

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Studies show heart failure is going to become a much bigger problem and a bigger burden on the country's health system in the coming years.

The American Heart Association says about 5 million people suffer from heart disease and that number could almost double by 2030 as baby boomers age.

The study also shows the cost to treat heart failure could reach $70 billion.

So, experts are saying prevention and early detection is really the key.

The study suggests specialized training for medical professionals to meet future demands of heart failure patients.
