State health dept. issues new flu numbers

LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Michigan Department of Health is issuing new numbers Wednesday night, trying to get the word out about our severe flu season and stressing the importance of getting vaccinated.

The State Health Department says only 19.2 percent of the state's population has received a flu shot this year.

Even the most vaccinated counties have only about 30 percent of their residents covered.

So far, there have been 7 deaths across West Michigan--three each in Kalamazoo and Kent Counties, and 1 in Van Buren County.
