CDC to release new information on multi-state E. coli outbreak

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to release new information this morning about a multi-state E. coli outbreak.

The CDC and FDA say several states are investigating an outbreak of 12 illnesses of E. coli, and Friday, they are expected to announce which states have been affected.

Officials believe the I. M. Healthy brand soy-nut butter products might be contaminated with the harmful bacteria.

Their website says it's sold in dozens of stores including Meijer, Target, and Whole Foods.

The states affected are expected to be announced Friday, and we are also expecting to learn more about the contaminated product.
