WIND ADVISORY

10 AM Until 2 AM Saturday

The National Weather Service maintains a WIND ADVISORY for nearly all of West Michigan from 10 AM this morning until 2 AM Saturday morning.  45 mph gusts are likely inland while 50 mph gusts are possible at the Lake Shore.  This kind of wind is capable of bringing down tree branches and creating some power outages.  Obviously, we hope that doesn't happen.  Winds blow from the northwest this morning then from the north by midday and beyond.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather today and always!

New Yorkers pushing for charges in chokehold death story image

NEW YORK (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Some New Yorkers, enraged by a man's death in police custody, say officers involved should face criminal charges -- after a medical examiner's ruling blamed a prohibited chokehold.

The city's medical examiner said Eric Garner was killed by neck compressions from the chokehold. Video of the scene was recorded by one of his friends.

Asthma, heart disease and obesity were listed as contributing factors in the 43-year-old Garner's death in July.

Garner's arrest and pleas of "I can't breathe" sparked outrage and led to the overhaul of the NYPD's use of force training.
