BARRY COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Barry County man is behind bars, accused of sex crimes against a child.

While there isn't a lot of information immediately available, we do know that a 29-year-old man with a criminal history is behind bars in the case.

Newschannel 3 reached out to the Barry County Prosecutor Wednesday night for more information, but we've yet to hear back.

Newschannel 3 has learned that 29-year-old Christopher Mix, of Delton, is behind bars in the Barry County Jail, accused of sexually assaulting a child under 13. Sources tell us it's a 9-year-old girl.

According to the criminal complaint, Mix is facing 6 counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct.

Documents also state these alleged incidents happened in Barry Township, between April and July of this year.

Mix has been in trouble with the law before several times, dating back to 2003, for third-degree retail fraud in Battle Creek, and second-degree home invasion in Battle Creek that same year.

He was arrested for drugs in 2013, and then two weeks ago, he was arrested on six counts of CSC.

Investigators are keeping quiet about the case for now, and aren't revealing if the victim was a relative or not, or if there are more victims out there.

Bail was set at $250,000.

According to documents, he's been ordered to stay away from children, including his own.
