WINTER WEATHER ADVISORIES start shortly for all of West Michigan for an accumulation of snow followed by sleet and freezing rain and even plain rain.  The ADVISORIES last until 8 PM everywhere save for Berrien, Cass, St. Joe, and Branch counties where the expiration time is 1 PM.  Snowfall ranges from 1" to 3" near and south of I-96 including Kalamazoo.  North of I-96, amounts may be greater in a range from 2" to 4".  Once snow transitions to freezing rain, ice accumulations of 1/10" perhaps upwards of 2/10" are possible.  Plus, secondary and back roads are likely to remain icy even when air temperatures reach the middle 30s this afternoon.  Please be careful traveling!

16yr old arrested on open murder charge in stabbing death of  Holland teen story image

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A 16 year old is under arrest Friday, August 1st accused of stabbing an 18-year old to death.

Ottawa County Sheriffs Capt. Mark Bennett says they got the 9-1-1 call around 11pm.

The say the victim, identified as Japaris Lamar Rodgers was walking with friends down Riley Street near 132nd Avenue when he was approached by the suspect and stabbed multiple times.

Rogers was transported to Holland Community Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Deputies had actively been searching for the suspect who they identified as Victor Donaldson since the assault.

Deputies received a tip around 4:30AM that Donaldson was in home in the 14,000 block of Boer Run in Holland Township.

He did surrender without further incident.

Donaldson is currently being held at the Ottawa County Juvenile Detention Center on an open murder charges.
