LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY

The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids issues a LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY for Oceana, Muskegon, Ottawa, Allegan, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Berrien, Cass, and St. Joe counties until 9 PM.  2" to 6" of snow are possible on northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph bringing lake effect snow bands near and across US 131, at times.  Some locations will see more than 6", especially closer to Lake Michigan.  Roads are slippery and become more tricky once the sun sets.

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Nine years ago today Hurricane Katrina roared ashore along the Gulf Coast.

A category 4 with 140 mile-per-hour winds, Katrina devastated the Mississippi and Louisiana coasts, wiping homes off their foundations.

Katrina claimed the lives of 1,800 people and caused at $125-billion in damage.
