Black bear released back into the wild

Updated: Saturday, August 30, 2014

MONROE, Wash. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A black bear has returned to the wild after spending time in a Humane Society for malnutrition.

In June, Washington State Police lured the 1-year-old bear into a trap with a doughnut.

They then brought her to a Paws facility for rehabilitation.

After being fed a normal diet, police released the animal Thursday afternoon.

Dogs and non-lethal bean bag shots were used to scare the bear so she wouldn't get too comfortable being around humans.
