The National Weather Service maintains a WIND ADVISORY for nearly all of West Michigan from 10 AM this morning until 2 AM Saturday morning.  45 mph gusts are likely inland while 50 mph gusts are possible at the Lake Shore.  This kind of wind is capable of bringing down tree branches and creating some power outages.  Obviously, we hope that doesn't happen.  Winds blow from the northwest this morning then from the north by midday and beyond.  Stay with wwmt.com for your weather today and always!

Water main break floods part of UCLA story image

LOS ANGELES (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Crews in Los Angeles have been working through the night to start the massive clean-up around UCLA after a major water main break.

"I really didn't know what was going on, and then finally I just started seeing the water pouring out and cement started falling everywhere," said student Quinn Halleck.

A 93-year-old water main under Sunset Boulevard broke Tuesday, shooting a geyser 30 feet in the air.

Officials say 35,000 gallons of water gushed out every minute, severely damaging a small portion of UCLA's campus.

The flood turned stairs into a waterfall and flooded a nearby parking garage.

"We actually had somebody that was in the water they got swept off their feet and with the current that was pushing they got trapped underneath their car," said Capt. Jamie Moore of the LA City Fire Dept.

Luckily, no one was hurt.

In the end, 8 to 10 million gallons of water was lost in a state dealing with an historic drought.
