Students in Hamilton learn importance of giving back to community story image
HAMILTON, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Students at one West Michigan school are learning about the importance of giving back to their community.

Hamilton High School German and Spanish teacher Lauren Stieper has organized a club at the school called the Hamilton Volunteer Club.

Students and teachers in the club devote their time on one or two Saturdays each month toward volunteering in the community.

The club's first event was on October 26, when they volunteered at the Holland Rescue Mission.

Stieper says the idea for the club came last year when a group of students did volunteer work to raise money for a trip to Germany.

They enjoyed themselves so much, they decided to create a group.
