Disabled Iraq war vet thanks service dog for his second chance story image
ALLEGAN, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A disabled war veteran is thanking his newly acquired service dog for a second chance at life.

Jesse Vasconcelos suffers from severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and traumatic brain injury, after serving overseas in Iraq.

A few weeks ago, Vasconcelos received a service dog named Chance.

He says without Chance, he felt like a prisoner in his own home.

"They're remarkable animals, they're there for us; we're able to talk to them," Vasconcelos said. "They understand us as we feel no one else does."

Chance and Jesse have been side-by-side ever since they met almost four weeks ago.
