(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Today's kids aren't getting enough cardio.

A new study by the American Heart Association found children can't run as fast or as far as their parents could at their age.

The study, led by an exercise physiologist in Australia, measured cardiovascular health and endurance of 25 million children ages 9 to 17 in 28 countries.

It found on average, children are 15 percent less fit than their parents were.

According to the study, it takes children 90 seconds longer to run a mile than their counterparts 30 years ago.
