(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - We all know a good night's sleep is good for the brain, but a recent study shows the older you get, the more important it can be.

Researchers at the Duke NUS Graduate Medical School in Singapore say lack of sleep in older people can make their brains age faster.

They tested sixty-six elderly Chinese adults, measuring brain volume through MRI scans every two years as well as recording how long they slept each night.

Researchers recommend adults get around seven hours per night.
