LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - State health officials are sending out a warning: You need to get your kids vaccinated.
They say immunization rates have dropped in Michigan, which puts more kids at risk of diseases like whooping cough and measles.
The state requires parents enrolling children in school for the first time to provide vaccination records, but parents can exempt children for religious or philosophical reasons.
The Michigan Department of Community Health is holding a news conference Thursday to reveal what they call "startling" new statistics on the drop in vaccination rates.
Look for much more on that later Thursday.
