Rise in baby boomer suicides concerns experts story image
(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Experts say they're concerned by an alarming rise in the number of baby boomers who are committing suicide.

The Centers For Disease Control says the suicide rate for men in their 50's increased by 50 percent between 1999 and 2010.

Experts believe the economy is one factor, as many older people found themselves out of a job over the last decade.

Anyone thinking of suicide, or who knows someone who is, should call the Michigan Help Line, by dialing 2-1-1.
