(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The federal government is launching a new campaign aimed at keeping kids from getting hooked on cigarettes.

The campaign of TV, print, and Internet ads are aimed at things young people value--like their looks--and the message can, at times, be graphic.

The ads demonstrate the damage smoking does to teeth and gums, or to skin.

Another ad portrays smoking as a demanding bully that orders teens outside frequently and makes them pay up.

The FDA says more than 700 kids under the age of 18 pick up the habit every day.
