Merger would create world's largest airline

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - American Airlines and U.S. Airways are set to announce a mega-merger Thursday morning.
The deal would create the world's biggest airline.
The carrier will keep the American Airlines name but will be run by U.S. Airways CEO Doug Parker.
This deal has been in the works since August when creditors forced American to consider a merger rather then stay independent.
American has been restructuring under bankruptcy protection since late 2011.
