General Motors reports large January gains

General Motors today reported a 20 percent year-over-year gain in the month of January in addition to a 7 percent increase in truck deliveries, according to a press release via GM Communications.

General Motors today reported a 20 percent year-over-year gain in the month of January in addition to a 7 percent increase in truck deliveries, according to a press release via GM Communications.

GM reports their total sales in January were 198,548 units, which is up by more than 1 percent from last year.

Chevrolet was the fastest growing crossover brand, with GM having the fastest-growing crossover sales of 2017. The Equinox, Traverse, Trax and Bolt EV all posted best-ever January sales. It was also the best January ever for Chevrolet crew cabs, as the Colorado was up 25 percent and Silverado up 15 percent -- the Tahoe was also up 22 percent.

As for GMC and Buick, the LaCrosse sales more than doubled (3,006 units) and the GMC Terrain and Buick Envision were up 14 percent each. Cadillac helped GM earn a 9 percent increase in retail deliveries with the ATS and XTS up 18 percent and 30 percent, respectively.
