      Report: Consumer confidence up, more spending on New Year's

      (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A new report shows consumer confidence is higher and many Americans were willing to spend a few extra dollars to ring in the new year.

      A survey from Mint.com showed 83 percent of Americans planned to spend $200 or less on the celebration.

      One percent were ready to shell out more than $1,000 on champagne and other festivities.
