But not everyone who is still uninsured seems all that worried about it.
A new study by BankRate.com shows about one-third of uninsured Americans plan to take their chances and pay the penalty instead.
The study surveyed more than 3,000 people, and 41 percent said the health insurance was too costly.
Meanwhile, 70 percent say they didn't know about the subsidies that could make those policies more affordable.
If you're uninsured and need help, you're urged to check out the Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment night Tuesday in Kalamazoo.
The event takes place from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Planned Parenthood on West Michigan Avenue.
No appointment is necessary, but if you plan on showing up, organizers suggest you bring a few things, including your social security number, income information, and policy numbers of any current health insurance plans.
